Mark Tutssel

Global Chief Creative Officer
Leo Burnett Worldwide

As Chief Creative Officer of Leo Burnett Worldwide, Mark Tutssel serves as the global network’s creative leader and is responsible for setting the creative vision for the network’s 85 offices.

Since taking the role in 2005, Mark has helped Leo Burnett move up to the 3rd most awarded network in the world, with more offices contributing to its creative reputation than any other agency network. Leo Burnett Worldwide has topped the Gunn Report’s “All Gunns Blazing” category for the last five years, taking home first place in new-world thinking.

In 2014, Leo Burnett was crowned “Network of the Year” at the International ANDY Awards, the Art Directors Club of New York, the Epica Awards, the Art Directors Club of Europe and the inaugural Cannes Lions Health Awards. To add to an already remarkable year of achievements, Leo Burnett was also honoured as the second most awarded creative network in the world at the The One Show and CLIO Awards.

Under Mark’s creative leadership, Leo Burnett has developed world-class campaigns for some of the world’s most iconic brands, including Coca-Cola, Samsung, McDonald’s and P&G among others. And for the last two consecutive years, Coca-Cola and McDonald’s have both been named Cannes “Creative Marketer of the Year” under his purview.

In 2013, Mark introduced Leo Burnett to “Creativity Without Borders”, a game-changing vision for marketing communications that is now widely adopted and embraced by the network.

One of the most awarded creative directors in the industry, his work has garnered every major creative accolade including the prestigious Cannes Grand Prix and 74 Lions. Mark’s professional success has been rooted in his belief in the power of ideas, and that creativity can change the world.

Mark has had the honour of chairing the world’s greatest award shows, including London International Awards, Clios, D&AD, Eurobest, Spikes, International ANDY Awards, AdFest, Art Directors Club of Europe, and the International YoungGuns. He is also one of the only Creative Directors in the world to serve as a Cannes Lions Jury President three times. In 2008, he was the President of the Cannes Titanium & Integrated Jury, in 2010, he was the President of both the Film and Press Juries, and finally, in 2013, he served as the President of Direct.

Campaign Magazine named Mark the No.1 Worldwide Creative Director, earning the title of top Global Creative Crusader.

Mark sits on several boards, including the Publicis Groupe P12 “Executive Committee” and the Facebook Creative Council. He is a member of the Royal Society of Arts and co-authored a book on Leo Burnett’s “HumanKind” philosophy.
