ARGENTINA WINS 10 STATUES AT THE
30th ANNUAL LONDON INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

LEO BURNETT BUENOS AIRES IS AWARDED THE BILLBOARD GRAND LIA

(New York, 10 November 2015)  The 30th LIA judging was held at the SLS Hotel in Las Vegas, convening over a ten-day period. The Juries, led by their respective Jury Presidents, viewed and scored every entry within their medium, ensuring that all the work was judged equally. They concluded with final discussions to determine Grand LIAs, Statue Winners and Finalists.

Argentina picks up 10 Statues and 2 Finalists – 1 Grand LIA, 3 Gold and 6 Silver.

Leo Burnett Argentina, Buenos Aires led the Argentine statue count at LIA 2015, taking home one Grand, one Gold and six Silvers.

The Print, Poster, Billboard Jury led by Matt Eastwood, Worldwide CCO, J. Walter Thompson, awarded Leo Burnett Argentina the GRAND LIA in Billboard for Samsung titled “Safety Truck”.

Four different juries awarded them seven Statues for the same client:

  • GOLD - Billboard - Innovative Use of Billboard for Samsung titled “Safety Truck”
  • SILVER - The NEW - Brand Experience for Samsung titled “Safety Truck”
  • SILVER - Non-Traditional - Corporate Image for Samsung titled “Safety Truck”
  • SILVER - Non-Traditional - Experiential for Samsung titled “Safety Truck”
  • SILVER - Design - Installations/Displays - Permanent for Samsung titled “Safety Truck”
  • SILVER - Design - Experiential Marketing for Samsung titled “Safety Truck”
  • SILVER - Billboard - Corporate Image for Samsung titled “Safety Truck”

“The challenge with the Print/Poster/Billboard medium is that every year there seems to be less work to judge,” stated Matt Eastwood. “It’s not the quality that is the issue, it’s the quantity. We saw some great work, but we were challenged when it came to selecting a Grand LIA in Print. Whilst we thought there was some very strong campaigns, we weren’t prepared to say that it was the very best print work in the world. It deserved to be recognized, but perhaps not at that level.

“Having said that, we were thrilled with the work in the Poster and Billboard categories and awarded Grand LIAs to KFC’s wonderful series of posters and Samsung’s “Safety Truck” respectively. The jury was looking for work that lifted creativity to a higher level. And, if possible, lifted society to a higher level as well. Both the Grands achieved that. The KFC posters lifted society to a higher level by putting out work that added charm and beauty to the world. Even better, Samsung produced a piece of work that will literally save countless lives. And there is no higher purpose than that.”

Barbara Levy, President of LIA, added, “I am thrilled that one of seven Grand LIAs went to an agency in Argentina. It is quite an achievement to win a statue at LIA, but to win a Grand is a triumph. I would like to congratulate all the statue winners and finalists.”
