Creative LIAisons in partnership with APA Kenya and EABL/Diageo holds the first-ever Kenya Creative Hackathon

17 May 2019
Most creative team wins two seats to Creative LIAisons 2019 in Las Vegas

Creative LIAisons is proud to announce its inaugural partnership with APA Kenya and EABL/Diageo. This is the first time that Creative LIAisons is holding a competition in Kenya. The winning team will be given two seats, inclusive of return airfares and accommodation to the Creative LIAisons programme in Las Vegas. The Creative LIAisons programme, which runs from 5th - 8th October, 2019, is designed to provide junior creatives with expertise, insight, new professional relationships and unparalleled networking opportunities. Every year, LIA brings in about 100 junior creatives from all over the world for free to attend master classes and talks. LIAisons runs concurrently with LIA judging and all judging rooms are open for creatives to observe the judging process all the way through metal judging. No other show does this.

This Creative Hackathon, which runs for 48 hours, is the ideal platform to celebrate young creativity. Every entry must consist of a local team of two creatives, between the ages of 21-30 years.

Said Barbara Levy, President of LIA, “We are really excited to work with APA Kenya and EABL/ Diageo on this Hackathon.  Conceived by the APA and EABL/Diageo, this is a brilliant way for young creatives to take the plunge and pit themselves against each other. Unlike other young creative competitions, the teams will be working on their ideas on site and must come up with an IMC campaign for the brief within the 48-hour timeframe. It is like a condensed version of a pitch but with a lot more pressure. But the pay-off is worth the sleepless nights.”

“We are also looking forward to have Waithera Kabiru, Head of Media Futures and Digital, EABL/Diageo, sit on The NEW jury again this year. Waithera is passionate about creativity. Being privy to the Show and the Creative LIAisons programme last year, Waithera has been pivotal in helping us set up this competition in Kenya with the APA,” added Barbara Levy.

Waithera Kabiru was the first Kenyan judge at LIA, judging The NEW jury in 2018.  “We are pleased to welcome her back. Her insights in the judging room were invaluable,” continued Barbara Levy.

Creative LIAisons is the way LIA gives back to the industry. As an awards show whose mantra is “created for creatives”, and believes in giving back to the industry that supports its show, this is the perfect platform for LIA to help inspire the next generation of creative minds.
