When I was invited to be a part of LIA's ‘Creative Conversations’ taking place in Las Vegas, I was thrilled to be given such a great opportunity and immediately said “Yes!” (Who could say no to a week in Vegas?) Each day was filled with speakers and events, where we were given insight into our ever-evolving industry by some of the top creative minds in the world. We were able to see some of the best work from this year, and also hear about personal experiences and influences from each speaker. It was educational and reassuring to hear that everyone goes through the same struggles within our industry. You have to “enjoy the pain,” as DDB’s worldwide CCO Amir Kassaei said to us. “Not everyone can do what we do.” I felt a sense of pride and responsibility more than ever to continue to fight for great work, and not be defeated by the everyday obstacles faced during the process.

An exciting part of the week was when we were able to sit in on statue discussions. In the room I sat in, the judges even involved us in their debates, asking our opinions. It was great to understand the thinking that goes behind judging work at these types of shows, and hearing first hand why some pieces were more successful than others. Throughout the week we were able to have more intimate discussions with the jurors, and really pick their brains and get to know them on a one-on-one level.

One of the best parts of the experience was meeting all the other talented junior creatives from around the globe. Everyone came to Vegas with an open mindset, and they were all such great people. I left Vegas with new friends, less money, and a wealth of knowledge and motivation. Overall, ‘Creative Conversations’ was one of the best experiences I've had, and I am so happy to have had the opportunity. Thanks, LIA!
