GERMANY WINS 41 STATUES INCLUDING 1 GRAND LIA AT THE
28TH ANNUAL LONDON INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

SERVICEPLAN MUNICH IS NAMED DESIGN & PACKAGE DESIGN COMPANY OF THE YEAR

(London, 4 November 2013) The 28th LIA judging was held at the Wynn/Encore Hotel in Las Vegas, convening over a ten-day period. The juries, led by their respective Jury Presidents, viewed and scored every entry within their medium ensuring that all the work was judged equally. They concluded with final discussions to determine Grand LIAs, Statue Winners and Finalists.

Germany picks up 41 statues – one Grand, 10 Gold, 19 Silver and 11 Bronze. The individual wins are below:

serviceplan, Munich was honoured with the first LIA Design & Package Design Company Of The Year Award.   “LIA is proud to award the first-ever Design & Package Design Company of the Year Award to serviceplan, Munich.  Their body of work was extraordinary.  Overall, the German entrants once again, proved that their work is highly creative, well executed and uses exciting new ideas”, said Barbara Levy, President of LIA.

They are also the proud Winners of the coveted Grand LIA in Design for Auchan “The Selfscan Report”.  “The Selfscan Report” was also awarded two Gold Statues in Design in the categories of Eco-Design and Annual Reports.

  • Silver in Non-Traditional - Live Events - Beyond Advertising for SKY titled “SKY Livespots”
  • Bronze in Digital - Visual Design for Auchan “The Selfscan Report”
  • Bronze in Design - Branded Content for Fyffes “Banana Comic Week 2013 “
  • Bronze in Design - Direct Marketing - Consumer for Fyffes “Banana Comic Week 2013 “
  • Bronze in Design - Art Direction for Alive e.V. Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty “Troy Davis - I am alive”.

To round off their swag of awards, they were recognized with five Finalists:

  • Non-Traditional - Guerrilla Marketing for SWISS International Air Lines titled “Instagram Takeover”
  • Print - Art Direction for Innocence in Danger titled “The Daily Abuse”

  • TV/Cinema/Online Film - Production | Post-Production  - Low Budget for Santec Security Systems titled “Santec Swing”

Following closely behind serviceplan was Saatchi & Saatchi, Berlin winning three Gold and two Silver Statues. 

The Non-Traditional Jury awarded three Gold Statues for Diakonie Frankfurt, Samusocial, Spravedlivaya Pomosch, Shelter, Sozialwerke Pfarrer Sieber titled “Days of Hope”.  “Days of Hope” was also awarded a Silver by the Integration Jury and an additional Silver by the TV/Cinema/Online Film Jury. The Non-Traditional Golds were awarded in the Categories of Branded Content, Guerrilla Marketing and Live Events - Beyond Advertising; the Silver LIA was awarded in the category of Innovative Use of TV/Cinema/Online Film. Saatchi & Saatchi, Berlin also attained a Finalist in TV/Cinema/Online Film - Branded Content for the same piece of work.

Wieden+Kennedy New York, New York was awarded the Grand LIA in the medium of TV/Cinema/Online Film for Southern Comfort titled "Whatever's Comfortable - Beach"

ShootMedia, London was awarded the Grand LIA in the medium of TV/Cinema/Online Film - Production | Post-Production for ChildLine titled  "It Follows Me Around"

serviceplan, Munich was awarded the Grand LIA in the medium of Design for Auchan titled "The Selfscan Report"  

Memac Ogilvy & Mather, Dubai was awarded the Grand LIA in the medium of Radio for Sawa Mninjah - Rescue Radio - The Rescue Continues Campaign "Nepalese Street Festival", "Sri Lankan Health Spa", "Kenyan Romantic Drama" and "Filipino Pop Singer”. This is the first Grand LIA ever awarded to an entrant from the United Arab Emirates.

2013 LIA ‘Of The Year Awards’ were decided based on the outstanding work chosen by the Juries across all media. This year LIA awarded five of these coveted Awards.

Of the 13,242 submissions, from 72 countries, 6% attained Shortlist status. Of those elite selections, only 0.8% won Gold Statues; 1.5% Silver Statues; 1.6% Bronze Statues and 2% Finalist. The vast number of submissions reflects the prestige and explosive growth of the London International Awards since its inception in 1986 when only 2,600 submissions were entered.
